Microsoft is the second richest company the whole world it costs 2.1 twilion US dollars.
The question is why did it get service put them in the tube like structure then put them underwater and why invest in a lot of money in this project.
Before we go far let us first know what a servers and what are data centers.
For example if you are using Google that that is saved in data centers which are connected on the wires in that area.
All companies and all gadgets are connected and a server let them be smartphones, computers smart, TVs and smart freezers what ever, all are connected to ssrvers. And servers are the ones that make data centers, this data centers.
These data centers cloud storage and backup storage for example Google has Gmail storage and Google maps which are constructed in zones which are interconnected in a way that if one fails others continue working. This helps to keep data running smoothly even if one server gets a problem.
In this world there are more than 8 million data centers.
Big companies like Google, Amazon Microsoft are the ones that invest in servers, for example last year they spent more than 37 billion on servers and data centers only. After Microsoft doing all that it started on a project Natick.

Microsoft paid a French submarine construction company to construct for it a tube like structure which was put underwater containing 800 servers which are able to store 37.6 petabytes remember 1 petabyte has 1024 terabytes. Those are 27 million GBs.
This tube like structure was to spend 2 years, it has a length of 12 meters. it was put in 1017 meters in water, it uses Reusable energy generated by wind miles,it was constructed by NAVAL group. This group mainly is meant for submarine construction and other water weapons like ships.
This submarine like structure was connected to to an electrifying cable and fiber optic cables to send information on to the computers on top.
We are going to continue and see if this was project was successful because it was a very tiresome mission because if water linked into these servers all the data would be lost.
You might also be wondering why these servers were placed in water?
Temperature in water does not flactuate like that of the atmosphere and there is a very cool temperature in water. Servers produce a lot of heat and remember they are like 1 million servers and so they produce too much heat.
Again it is expensive to maintain if not in water and it stands a chance of data loss for example if cleaning. Them and they fall down data data stands a risk of getting lost.
The natic project was powered by natural energy sources like wind miles hence less expensive and it is even safe to keep this data underwater because stealing it is not easy.
Internet is going to increase speed due to the servers being at a lower altitude than the users.
It is also environmentally friendly because it reduces on the amount of carbon emissions in the atmosphere
